Hornet's Nest

I was going to post a photo or two from my vacation to Branson, Mo., but I got home and found a big problem outside. I wanted to get in pretty close for a great photo, but you can only get so close to these dangerous little beasties. I'm not sure how we managed to miss them building it up this big.

I mounted my 105mm macro lens and got as close as I dared. A couple flew toward me to check me out, then flew back to the nest. I had leftover bug spray fluid in a jar from something else. I don't know that it was made for, but I decided to try it. I filled a cup with it and thew it on the nest, then ran inside. We'll have to see if it works or not.
