4A State Soccer Post Season

I took time on my only day off this week to enjoy photographing Jonesboro's Westside High School beat the pants off of DeQueen at Burns Park in North Little Rock.

Westside junior Kelsey Elrod led the Warriors with solid play against a lackluster DeQeen team. Dequeen passed into Westside territory less and less, especially in the second half, and seemed content to play defense to keep the score down.

Westside started with an early lead and Dequeen tied it up 1-1 just before halftime. Elrod scored about 30 minutes into the second half with a high kick over the Dequeen goalie's head to take the lead. Westside scored one more finish the game 3-1. Erin Wisdom and Heaven Howard each scored for Westside, and Elrod and Genie Jackson each tallied an assist.

With the win, Westside moves on to meet two-time defending champion Central Arkansas Christian of North Little Rock. The semi-final game will be held Monday at at 3 p.m. Burns Park.

The Warriors will need their players to step up against Central Arkansas Christian. Christian played on the field next to Westside on Saturday and took an impressive 7-0 victory over Green Forest.
